Now offering a professional liability policy exclusively for professionals who are solely engaged in Alternative Dispute Resolution services with exceptionally low premiums - starting at $500!
With the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) growing, ADR professionals are exposed to situations which may lead to potential claims. ADR professionals face the risk of professional liability claims based on multiple factors, including conflict of interest, misrepresentation, and negligent advice. Although the ADR professional may ultimately avoid liability, the cost of defense can be significant. In many jurisdictions mediators cannot rely solely on immunity as a defense and must look to other safeguards to protect their assets. MLM Risk Retention Group, Inc (MLM RRG) now offers an ADR professional liability policy that covers liability for damages arising from the rendering of, or failure to render, ADR services.
Who Is Covered?
The 100% ADR Policy is designed exclusively for professionals whose practice is 100% ADR services. Professionals covered by this policy include, but not limited to: Mediators, Special Masters, Arbitrators, Neutral Case Evaluators, Conciliators, Hearing Officers, Facilitators, Fact Finders and Judges Pro Tempore. If you are a lawyer and your practice is less than 100% ADR services, you should apply for coverage through MLM's' lawyers' professional liability insurance application process.
Affordable rates are calculated to reflect the needs of an ADR practice. To qualify you must have a practice that is 100% ADR services and your principal office must be in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Nebraska, or Virginia.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why Should I Purchase Professional Liability Insurance?
ADR professionals face the risk of professional liability claims based on multiple factors, including conflict of interest, misrepresentation, and negligent advice. When confronted with the threat of a potential claim, many have some level of immunity, however, not all jurisdictions grant full immunity for ADR services. Even if ADR professionals avoid liability, they may incur significant defense costs and should make sure they have appropriate professional coverage to protect their assets.
Should I apply for an ADR policy if the majority of my practice is ADR, but I also provide legal representation to a few clients?
If your practice is less than 100% ADR services, you should apply for coverage through our lawyers' professional liability insurance application process. MLM's lawyers' professional liability policy provides the necessary coverage and applies premium credits for the ADR segment of the practice. Attorneys who have lawyers' professional liability insurance, and practice less than 100% ADR services, should review their insurance to verify coverage for their ADR services.
